Collector's night auction
Join us for an evening of rare specimens, serious live bidding and the kind of finds you won’t see anywhere else.
Every year brings a different lineup – some significant corporate lots are announced ahead of time, some aren’t.
All proceeds support PGMS 2027.
What's to expect ?
Our team of volunteers will be collating generous item donations from corporate sponsors, vendors and individuals until 3.30pm Saturday.
Then, the little hands will ensure boths rooms are ready with specimens displayed for the silent and live fundraising auction.
By 6.30, food and drinks start ! Get ready for two hours of canapes, bigger bites, deserts, and three hours of drinks ! At 7.30, the live auction starts. We’ll have a couple breaks for all to have time to enjoy nibble and drinks, aiming to be done by 8.15. Last chance for desert at 8.30. Get another glass, socialise and make the pencil dance on the silent auction sheets. At 8.50, pencils are up, and your generosity is welcome by our treasurer.
Events concludes at 9.30, with guest departing for the volunteer crew to pack-up. Doors close at 10.

What's for auction ?
You never quite know what’s coming. That’s the point !
But we can already tell you about :
- A Vault specimen of very high grade ore from Wattle Dam, with significant visible gold mineralisation, courtesy of Ramelius resources
- An original Hoover translation of the De Re Metallica
- A polished slab of elbaite-bearing pegmatite from Greenbushes, WA donated by Talison Lithium.
- A significant specimen from Degrussa copper mine donated by Sandfire resources
- A large polished sphere of tiger iron courtesy of Crystal Universe.
- A large sphere of purple lepidolite in pegmatite from the Desertfire Design workshop.
No donation is too big or too small. We typically select up to a dozen of significant pieces for the live auction, which are the highlight of the night, and quite entertaining to watch. Other contributions are listed on the silent auction for the bidding to happen during the whole lenght of the event, while drinks and nibbles are served with a 5 minute warning before pens are up. Bargains to be had, or generosity to be expressed, make sure you help the Perth Gem Mineral Show run another year by fighting for a rock !
